About the Firm

Positive Sum is building an investment firm that backs the next generation of platforms with capital and support to pursue their vision. We started with an incredible community of investors and operators that loved Invest Like The Best. Now, with 11 portfolio companies, we’re excited to build the operation and products to support those companies, the next 100 that work with Positive Sum, and the broader entrepreneurial ecosystem.

The Impact You'll Have

The Head of Operations will be critical to scaling Positive Sum. That means we need to build processes and products that make Positive Sum a platform that supports entrepreneurs. First, managing all the details that make a firm like ours run smoothly, so we can focus on investing and supporting companies. Second, seamlessly interacting with companies from the time we meet them, through the diligence process, and after we invest. You will be a critical part of making all this work, supporting prospective investments, portfolio companies, and limited partners.

Who You Are

  • You love getting things done.
  • Past roles include customer-facing and/or process experience; customer success, operations, investing, consulting, or something else.
  • You’re comfortable selecting and managing systems. We’ve used a range of things like Notion, Airtable, 4Degrees, Zapier, Google Docs, and Microsoft Office.
  • Learning to use new tools is a favorite activity.
  • Designing processes excites you. Automating them doubly so.
  • Serving entrepreneurs sounds like the best job ever.

The Problems You'll Solve

  • Manage data infrastructure associated with fundraising and investment pipelines.
  • Build processes for the team to work collaboratively on investment opportunities.
  • Organize financial reporting process to hand off for fund accounting.
  • Select tools that help the team scale processes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve communications with Positive Sum’s investors, provide better support to portfolio companies, and publicly share our learnings.
  • Updating and managing our website and social media presence.
  • Manage ad hoc projects as they come up.

What to Expect in the Hiring Process

We want to get to know you, first through your own words and then through several discussions. 

  • Initial screen: we’d love to review anything that would help us understand who you are and why you’re excited about the role. Resumes, portfolios of your work, or anything else works.
  • First discussion: a 30-minute meeting with Sam to discuss the role and your relevant experiences.
  • Second discussion: 30-minute meeting with Patrick to discuss the vision for Positive Sum and how the role fits.
  • Final interview: 30-minute discussion with Sam on any lingering questions for you and for us.
  • Get a decision: We’ll get back to you within a week on what’s next.
